This strong Japanese saw, also known as a “Kataba saw,” is a versatile tool ideal for cutting bamboo, as well as wood and plastic. The thin blade with triple-ground trapezoidal teeth allows you to cut hard bamboo poles and slats quickly and effortlessly.

Japanese saws look very different from Western hand saws. The blade of a Japanese saw is much thinner, more flexible, and features a different tooth design. The main difference, however, is that Japanese saws cut on the pull stroke. This means the saw does its work while being pulled, rather than pushed through the material like a Western saw.

The fine tooth setting minimizes the kerf, so the cut is only slightly wider than the blade itself. This ensures perfectly smooth and precise cuts. Japanese saws are also excellent for cutting regular wood lengthwise.
