Moso bamboo pole Ø 12–14 cm x 100 cm
Product detailed description
Phyllostachys edulis, also known as Moso bamboo, is a thin-walled bamboo species with a large diameter originating from China. This construction bamboo is best known for its applications in laminated and composite flooring products.
CHARACTERISTICS
Moso bamboo poles taper along their length due to the natural growth of this species.
Phyllostachys edulis has a beautiful, naturally glossy yellow outer layer.
All species of the Phyllostachys genus tend to crack longitudinally. This is caused by fluctuations in atmospheric humidity and temperature where the bamboo is used and cannot be prevented. However, these cracks do not affect the mechanical properties of the bamboo.
Moso bamboo is among the hardest bamboo species in the world, making it highly suitable for flooring and decking.
COMMON USES
Moso bamboo (which in Chinese means “very valuable hardwood”) has been used since prehistoric times for building houses, bridges, and structures, and today replaces many traditional wood species.
Moso bamboo poles are ideal for decorative use, crafts, furniture, fencing, musical instruments, and even scaffolding reaching up to 40-story skyscrapers.
Phyllostachys edulis is the most popular bamboo for producing timber products such as plywood and bamboo flooring. These are used for truck floors, trains, and shipping containers.
Moso fibers are also used to produce chopsticks, mats, baskets, clothing, pulp, and paper.
Bamboo charcoal is used in the food, dye, and medical industries.
