Tonkin bamboo poles are beautiful, strong, straight, and dimensionally stable. They have almost no tapering along their entire length. These bamboo poles are commonly used as support for trees, plants, and flowers. They can also be used for creative purposes in schools, organizations, companies, or households. When long enough, Tonkin bamboo poles are slightly flexible and therefore not suitable for large constructions.

All types of bamboo tend to crack longitudinally. This is caused by fluctuations in atmospheric humidity and temperature at the place of use and cannot be completely prevented. However, these cracks do not affect the mechanical properties of the bamboo.
